I am frequently asked where to shop for authentic Indian Fashion when living abroad, and I always respond with Utsav Fashion. So without further a due I thought I should share with you all my experiences thus far with the online Indian Fashion Retailer, Utsav Fashion. I have shopped with them on several occasions and have always been left with great impressions. When I lived in India shopping online was a difficult task for a multitude of reasons, however the number one reason was simply because you just never knew what you were going to receive. Many retailers use the same photographs to advertise their clothing that have been taken by a fashion designer and provide you with an inferior replicate. So you just never know what the quality is like until you receive the garment in person and are either delighted or disgusted. This makes finding the task of a reputable Indian Fashion Retailer when living abroad even more challenging. Therefore after seeking recommendations of where to shop for authentic Indian fashion stitched to size I gave Utsav Fashion a go.
What stood out to me over other online retailers is their array of fashionable authentic Indian garments. You will find a generous selection of styles on Utsav Fashion ranging from Salwar Kameez, Saree's, Sherwani's, Kurti, Lehenga Choli's and Indo western Styles. They also cater for plus size women which is a bonus given Indian sizes are on the small end of the scale. Typically when ordering Indian Fashion I always have to opt for a size or two larger than normal. However with Utsav Fashion their sizes are based on bust measurements so you cannot go wrong. They also offer a tailoring service based on your personal measurements however this is only offered on a select range of garments. If you prefer to have your own garments tailored personally then you can simply order the dress material unstitched at no extra charge.
When I received my first order from Utsav Fashion within the quoted delivery time I was quite impressed. The garment was exactly as advertised which I was a little sceptical about when placing my order initially. However I was pleasantly surprised when I inspected my abaya style salwar kameez in closer detail. Everything about the garment was as advertised in the product description. The material was art silk as promised and the colour of navy blue as depicted in the photograph. The embroidery of floral motifs pictured that of the advertised garment. I ordered the garment ready to wear in their sizes based on bust measurements. It fitted perfectly without any need for further tailoring. Overall I was impressed with my first order and from there my love for Utsav Fashion continued.
My next order with Utsav Fashion although went awry I was still impressed with their service. I had placed my order for another garment and after waiting the delivery period was notified that the garment colour was not as depicted in the advertised photograph. I have never experienced any other Indian retailer be proactive, so this was a first. I chose to select another garment as it was the vibrant colour that sold me on that particular lehenga choli.
Unfortunately where they went wrong with this transaction is that they did not prioritise the replacement garment due to their error. I had already waited approximately 25 days for the first garment which never came to fruition. I then had to wait another 25 days approximately for the next garment which was the advertised availability. That was only a small inconvenience in comparison to all the other horrible experiences I have encountered shopping online with other retailers in India. With that said when I received my new abaya style salwar kameez I was just as impressed with the garment as I was when I received my first order. Utsav Fashion took on my feedback to better their customer service which speaks volumes for their dedication to their customers.
Since then I have received more garments and still just as happy with each and every one of them. I am always impressed with the fresh new selection of styles available online with Utsav Fashion. However I must say for those who fall into the plus size bracket I find the selection of fashionable styles very limited. For those with a bust measurement of 44 inches and above you are considered plus size. I am yet to order any of their accessories however have no doubt that they will be as advertised and of good quality.
With international postage on offer at reasonable prices anyone living abroad can shop online with Utsav Fashion. Which makes it convenient for me to order garments before any travels to India.
