Distressed Wooden Word Cubes
These charming distressed wooden word cubes are the perfect handmade decor item to fill any space. They are simple to make and super affordable. I picked up some small wooden cubes from Dollars and Sense. If you want to make yours into a statement piece you can find various sized wooden cubes from most craft stores or even at hardware stores. If you don't have a wood burning tool alternatively you can use acrylic paint for the letters. This is a DIY project that you can really put your own spin on.
What you will need:
- wooden cubes
- sand paper
- wood stain
- white paint
- wood burning tool
1/ To create a distressed look firstly stain each cube with a wood stain. Then allow them to dry completely.
2/ Paint over the stained cubes with a coat of white paint. To help create the distressed appearance paint some areas thin and other areas thick.
3/ Now to finish the distressed look. Sand the edges down until the stained wood appears. Chip parts of the paint off with a sharp pointed object then lightly sand the paint till you create your desired look.
4/ Using a stencil trace the letters of your chosen word onto each cube. Then burn over your traced letter with a wood burning tool or alternatively you can paint it.
